Front Range, NE Colorado Passed Over in Latest State Grants

Two projects in our area were passed over by state officials in their latest round of grant-making. According to a news release yesterday from the Governor's office, Weld and Adams counties did not make the cut, and projects in southeast and southwest Colorado did. Weld county had asked for money to upgrade its pubic safety radio infrastructure, while Adams county had asked for money to help its Regional Training Facility. 17-million dollars of grant funding was spread between the seven projects that did pass muster. Those include a new interchange at US-6 and I-70 in Parachute, an overpass near Grand Junction, a regional broadband service for the Durango region, and a bypass for US-50 around Delta.

Sterling Li.brary Quilt Show Starts Soon

Sterling Public Library will be hosting its annual Quilt Show during February and March. Quilts will be displayed in the main part of the library and the children’s area for everyone to enjoy. The library is looking for quilters of all skill levels to display their quilts during the show. Entry forms are available to pick up now at the library. You can take in your quilt now, according to library officials, who say it needs to be there by a week from Thursday to be in the show. If the library construction gets underway before the scheduled end of the show late next month, librarians will take down the displayed quilts and fold them up to protect them from dust and damage.

Blood Drives Set Today, Saturday

The Fort Morgan Elks are hosting a community blood drive today. Bonfills Blood Center says anyone who can donate should , because they're still recovering from the winter donation downturn and need the blood to replenish their storage. A second drive will be held later this week, for those who perhaps cannot get off work to donate. It is sponsored by the Morgan County Ambulance and is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1000 E. Railroad Ave. in Fort Morgan.
