Sterling Library Will Be Closed On Monday

The Sterling Public Library will be closed on Monday and according to Denise Ladd, Children's Librarian, the closure is a very good thing.






You will still be able to access the informational databases on the Polaris site or on the library`s page at http://sterlingcolo.com to find all types of information. The library will reopen on Tuesday at 9 AM

Pregnant Woman Dies At Hospital

Its not known why a Denver woman died at the hospital where she worked. Officials at St Luke's Medical Center say Sierra Greyes-Jackson was pregnant with twins and had back pain so she went to the hospital. Nurses said she collapsed in her room and they couldn't revive her. Her twin girls were successfully delivered and her husband will now raise their four children after being laid off from his job.

One Vote Saves Elementary School

Beattie Elementary School has been spared by one vote. The Poudre School District board voted last night not to shutter the school as a means of cutting costs. Plenty of community members attended the meeting and had an opportunity to plead their case. The school district is now tasked with looking into other cost-cutting measures in the face of a 12-million dollar budget reduction.

Study Finds Fault With Federal Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines

A new breast cancer study suggests the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force may have ignored life-saving evidence when it recommended less frequent mammograms in 2009. The task force had recommended against annual mammograms starting at age 40, instead suggesting that women get mammograms every other year beginning at the age of 50. But researchers at the University of Colorado and the University of Michigan found that annual mammograms starting at the age of 40 reduce a woman's risk of dying from breast cancer by 71-percent.
