It's that time again!

It's that time again. The Sterling Lions Club has traditionally kicked off the Logan County Fair for more than 60 years with their annual Cowboy Breakfast, and they'll continue the beloved custom next Wednesday, (Aug. 7). The event will be held from 6:30 to 8 a.m. at the Sterling Elks Lodge, and will include a delicious buffet. Breakfast goers will also be privy to meet the contestants for the 2014 Miss Rodeo Logan County, as well as the Grand Marshal of the Logan County Fair. This year there will be several grand marshals, all being honored because they live on Centennial Farms, which were founded one hundred years ago and still belong to the original owners' families.

Mothers in northeast Colorado are joining forces

Mothers in northeast Colorado are joining forces. Sterling mom's, and others in the area will band together for the Big Latch this Saturday, (Aug. 3), from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Columbine Park, in honor of World Breastfeeding Week. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action organizes World Breastfeeding Week Aug. 1-7 every year to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding, and the need for global support. The Big Latch On is a synchronized breastfeding event held in communities across the globe. World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in 120 countries.

Unmarked trucks, Deals that seem too good to be true, and companies that insist on cash-only sales, authorities say, are all tell tell signs of a scam. The number of complaints about asphalt company scams this summer have skyrocketed, and the Better Business Bureau says so have the number of homeowners calling asking how they can tell when an asphalt company is legitimate.
They say consumers are safer dealing with a contractor who has roots in the community.

Hundreds of Fort Collins-based call center employees will soon be looking for a new job

Hundreds of Fort Collins-based call center employees will soon be looking for a new job. The company plans to lay off 600 workers by the end of the year, at the Center Partners facility, between Oct. 1 and Dec. 6. The company also plans to shut down one of its Fort Collins offices as of Dec. 1. A call center on Innovation Drive in Fort Collins will remain open. The company's C.E.O., says the layoffs are due to "changing business needs."

The West Nile has made it's way to Colorado

The West Nile has made it's way to Colorado. Colorado Mosquito Control will once again conduct mosquito spraying this week, following two more mosquito pools in Lafayette having tested positive for the virus, the third positive test the city has seen this month. A mosquito pool at Waneka Lake Park and one near Rothman Open Space at North Finch Avenue and Baseline Road both tested positive for the virus, this week. A Phat Daddy concert scheduled for Wednesday at Wankea Lake has been moved to Festival Plaza at Public Road and Chester Street. The city said despite the two positive tests, overall mosquito numbers are down.

A father accused of kidnapping his infant son has been arrested

A father accused of kidnapping his infant son has been arrested. Greeley police say Alvin Padilla confronted the boy's mother on Monday over custody of their son, before hitting her, grabbing the boy, and then driving off. With police on the hunt for the forsaken father, authorities say Padilla left the child with a woman he didn't know and told her the police were after him. He did come back for the boy, and was taken into custody.

Luckily no one appears to have been injuried after a private cargo plane ran off the runway at Colorado Springs Airport. Assistant director of operations John McGinley says a wheel brake locked up and the 60-foot-long Metroliner, a twin-engine aircraft, rolled onto the grass. McGinley says mechanics are trying to fix the brakes and pull the plane back onto the runway. He says airport operations were not affected.
