Prosecutors Get Theater Shooter's Mental Health Records

Prosecutors in the Colorado theater shootings have received defendant James Holmes' mental health records from the state hospital and a university he attended. The records were turned over at a hearing Monday. Prosecutors are entitled to the records because Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to murder and attempted-murder charges. He's accused of killing 12 and injuring 70 in a July 2012 attack. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Holmes was treated by a psychiatrist at the University of Colorado, Denver and underwent a sanity evaluation at the state hospital.

The Loveland Wedding Center is continuing a tradition to help brides as part of a longstanding effort to help others. The owners got the idea from another store. According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald the dresses are given out on a first-come, first-served basis with no proof of financial need required. Any alterations to the dresses will be handled at cost.

The federal Bureau of Land Management is planning to reseed portions of areas where two wildfires burned this summer. BLM spokesman Chris Joyner said local officials are waiting on approval from the Washington office to reseed about 380 acres of the nearly two-square-mile Wild Rose Fire in Rio Blanco County north of Douglas Pass. According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel the agency also is looking to reseed about 200 acres of the three-square-mile Citadel Fire north of Meeker.

A law exempting civilian military workers has been upheld

A law exempting civilian military workers has been upheld. Nearly 3,000 government employees at Colorado's Fort Carson, the Air Force Academy, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command received notice this weekend to return to work, Monday. 130 civilian workers are also working again at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said, yesterday more personnel can be exempted as essential under the law.
