Drivers on Morgan County Road 20, between Gateway Avenue south to C.R. Q might one day see a higher speed limit. Sheriff Jim Crone told county commissioners this week that he's heard from residents in the area who say the 35 mile an hour speed limit should be raised. Crone told commissioners that the speed limit had been set when Road 20 was a dirt road. He said now that its been paved, the county might want to consider raising the speed limit to 45 miles an hour. Commissioners said they'd hold a public hearing on the matter at their December 20 meeting to hear from the public before voting to raise the speed limit.

Lindsey Vonn Celebrates World Cup Win By "Tebowing"
(Beaver Creek, CO) -- Colorado resident and Olympic star Lindsey Vonn celebrated her fourth World Cup skiing win Wednesday the only way she knew how: by "Tebowing." The 27-year-old dropped to one knee on the medal stand after finishing just over a minute ahead of second place Fabienne Suter of Switzerland. "Tebowing" is named after Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow's penchant for dropping to one knee during games in a religious gesture.
Denver In The Top Ten Cities For Lowest Crime
(Undated) -- Denver has one of the lowest crime rates among America's big cities. A new report from CQ Press ranks Denver at Number Ten on a list of low-crime cities with populations of 500-thousand or more. El Paso, Texas, was listed with the lowest rate among cities of similar size, while Detroit had the highest.
Arapahoe Task Force Investigates Meth-For-Sex Scandal
(Arapahoe County, CO) -- A 22-member task force in Arapahoe County will handle the expanding investigation into the meth-for-sex scandal. Sheriff Grayson Robinson said yesterday a 24-hour hotline will also be used to gather tips from the public. Former Sheriff Patrick Sullivan was arrested November 29th for allegedly trying to exchange meth with a confidential informant he believed was a gay prostitute.
Melting Ice With Blow Torch Starts House Fire
(Broomfield, CO) -- Using a blow torch to melt ice from a walkway is being blamed for setting a Broomfield house on fire. The exterior of a home on Coral Street was going up in flames yesterday afternoon, but firefighters were reportedly able to stop the fire from spreading inside. No injuries were reported.

(Adams County, CO) -- A man is dead from shotgun wounds after a closing-time argument at a topless bar. Adams County authorities say 25-year-old John Paul Valdez killed Javier Ruacho-Benitez with a single blast. The murder happened early yesterday at the "Saturday Night Live" bar on Federal Boulevard.

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — An Oklahoma woman who survived a plane crash near Aspen 34 years ago has donated more than $1 million to her rescuers for a new headquarters and training facility.
The Aspen Times reports that Lynda Cameron of Oklahoma City made the donation to Mountain Rescue Aspen on Nov. 29, the anniversary of her rescue . The exact amount was not announced, but the newspaper reports it was in excess of $1 million.
Cameron's father, C.B. Cameron, died in the crash of the family's small private plane, which disappeared in a snowstorm. Lynda Cameron and five others on board survived in the snowy backcountry for two nights before they were rescued.
Lynda Cameron was 15 years old at the time, and was found sitting in the wreckage of the plane.

Final toll from melon listeria outbreak: 30 dead
DENVER (AP) — Federal health authorities say the final death toll from an outbreak of listeria in cantaloupe is 30.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta issued the final update Thursday and said the outbreak is over.
The agency says 30 people died, and a woman pregnant at the time of her illness had a miscarriage. Last month, the CDC put the death toll at 29.
The CDC says a total of 146 people were sickened in 28 states.
The melons came from Jensen Farms in Holly, Colo., which recalled the cantaloupes Sept. 14.
Symptoms of listeria can take up to two months to appear.

Former Gov. Ritter undergoes appendectomy
DENVER (AP) - Former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter is recovering from an appendectomy.
The Denver Post reports that the former governor fell ill Tuesday night while at public events in Denver and had the procedure early the next day.
The newspaper reports that Ritter drove himself to a nearby hospital.
Ritter told the newspaper that his appendix was removed several hours later.
