The Ft. Morgan Board of Education outlined the time line for their Superintendant Search. Finalist will be identified, with the help of the Colorado Association of School Boards. All applications are due by the last day of February. After an initial review and background check, finalists will be announced at a special board meeting on March 12th. The finalists will come to Fort Morgan for interviews March 16-17, with the board slated to make a selection at its March 19 regular meeting.

Logan County Commissioner Jim Edwards heard back from the Ethics Commission he requested to investigate himself. Edwards took some heat for his business deals with the County which appeared to be giving him an unfair advantage over his competitors. Edwards owns an Electronics Store. The Ethics Commissioners decided not to judge any of Edwards' past actions because no official complaint was ever filed. However, they will offer an advisory opinion to avoid any future conflicts of interest.

Coloradans' Assets Shrinking

A new national report says Americans' assets are shrinking like never before. Ida Rademacher, Vice President for Policy and Research for the Corporation for Enterprise Development, says according to their Assets and Opportunities scorecard, many Colorado families don't have the personal assets to weather a financial storm...

Sex Offender Naked at Boyes and Girls Club

So a man walks into the Greeley Boys and Girls Club...naked. The sex offender, IDed as sex offender 51 year old Jeffery Krier of Orchard. He was in the Weld County Jail as of yesterday on suspicion of two felony counts of indecent exposure.

MCC Gala Feb 24

The Morgan Community College Foundation will host its 13th annual gala on Friday, February 24 at 6 p.m. in the Mark Arndt Event Center. That's at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush.
The theme for this year's gala is a 1950's sock-hop and will be centered on "Reliving the Past, Building Futures." If you go, dress the part. Medical Pot Can't Be Used While On Probation

(Denver, CO) -- A Colorado appeals court is saying medical marijuana can't be used while on probation. The Colorado Court of Appeals has overturned a decision to allow Leonard Charles Watkins, who was on probation for felony sexual exploitation of a child, to use medical marijuana. The court found that a probationer must comply with federal law, which outlaws possession and use of marijuana, even if he has a medical marijuana ID card.

Santorum Winner In Minnesota, Missouri And Colorado

(Undated) -- Rick Santorum comes out on top in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado where that state's GOP Chairman Ryan Call made the announcement of Santorum's win late last night.






The former Pennsylvania senator also won Missouri's non-binding primary and Minnesota's caucuses on Tuesday. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney had been on a roll until tonight. He captured the Nevada GOP caucuses last weekend and the Florida Republican presidential primary last week. Romney has been scoring well in the most recent national polls, having taken the lead away from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Santorum had won the Iowa caucuses in early January

Turn Out Larger Than Expected At Caucuses

(Denver, CO) -- More voters than expected came out to cast a ballot at last night's caucuses. Many of them, including Jim Duffy, were still deciding who to vote for while they were there.






Rick Santorum took Colorado with just more than 40-percent of the vote. Mitt Romney came in a close second with about 35-percent of the vote, while Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul came in third and fourth place, respectively. Santorum campaigned pretty hard in the days leading up to the Colorado caucus by making a number of personal appearances and using robo calls to encourage people to vote for him.

Boulder rangers kill 2 coyotes deemed aggressive

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Boulder police say Boulder Open Space rangers have killed two aggressive coyotes after one bit a jogger on the leg.

The Daily Camera reports the first coyote was killed Sunday after biting a jogger on a bike path near 55th Street and Pearl Parkway.

A short time later, a second aggressive coyote was reported near 55th and Central Avenue and was tracked and killed by a ranger.

The newspaper reports the coyote appeared to be in bad health.

Former Hygiene fire chief begins sentence

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Former Hygiene Fire Chief Bill Nelson is ready to start serving his sentence on convictions of prohibited use of a weapon and driving under the influence.

The Daily Times-Call reports Nelson was booked at the Boulder County Jail on Monday to be fitted for a monitor to begin 20 days of home confinement. He had pleaded guilty to DUI, the weapons charge and a petty marijuana possession charge.

He was accused of using the volunteer firefighter emergency lights on his truck to stop another vehicle last year. A witness called 911.

Police said Nelson appeared intoxicated at the time, and they reported finding a gun and marijuana in his truck.

His sentence included two years of probation, 96 hours of community service and home detention.

CO GOP chair: Remaining presidential field strong

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Republican Party Chair Ryan Call says he believes any of the remaining GOP presidential candidates can pose a serious challenge to President Barack Obama.

Call wouldn't say whom he supported at his precinct caucus at an Aurora middle school Tuesday. But he predicted that the winner of Colorado's caucuses will be the eventual party nominee and will be in a strong position to defeat Obama.

Call said he'd heard of no serious problems at the more than 2,900 caucus meetings across the state.

He also said party leaders were heartened by voter turnout despite the cold weather.

Santorum wins in 3 states as Romney stalls

WASHINGTON (AP) — A resurgent Rick Santorum has been declared the winner in three states, raising questions about Mitt Romney's appeal with conservatives at the core of the Republican Party.

Voters in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado chose Santorum.

Romney placed second in two of the three contests, Missouri and Colorado. But Texas congressman Ron Paul took second place in Minnesota.

Bringing up the rear was Newt Gingrich, the blustery former House speaker who largely skipped Tuesday's contests to focus on Ohio, which votes next month.
