Gag Order in Burlington Murders Case

District Court Judge Kevin Hoyer has imposed a gag order in the case of a 12 year old suspected of shooting his family and killing his parents. Morgan County District Attorney Bob Watson said that means that no one involved can talk about the case. Even the 911 call the boy made is off limits, because, as Watson said, the suspect made the call.
The boy faces two counts each of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and first degree assault. Fifty year old Charles Long and his wife, 51 year old Marilyn were killed, and the boy's nine year old brother and five year old sister were wounded. They're still in the hospital in Denver. The boy will be back in court next Monday.

Fort Collins boy dies during rugby game

A Larimer County coroner says a 17-year-old boy who collapsed during a rugby match died from cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported on Sunday that deputy coroner Kari Jones said Matthew Hammerdorfer had three heart surgeries because of his heart condition. Players said Hammerdorfer collapsed Saturday afternoon during a match in Tiimnath after being hit in the chest but Jones ruled that the contact did not contribute to his death.

Authorities said Hammerdorfer was not breathing when emergency crews arrived. He was pronounced dead at the Medical Center of the Rockies after being flown there.

Several Homes in Evans Evacuated

Authorities say several houses in Evans were evacuated over the weekend after a man was found dead in garage with a cylinder nearby that appeared to contain compressed gas. Authorities worried the cylinder could explode, but residents were allowed back in their homes after the bomb squad removed the container. Authorities haven't said how they man died, but they don't suspect foul play.

Burlington: An Answer Someday

Experts say that the stunned Burlington citizens will one day have a likely explanation for the killings of a churchgoing couple, allegedly by their 12-year-old son. But, Portland, Ore., children's rights attorney Paul Mones says the explanation may not be a "settling one." Charles Long and his wife, Marilyn, were found fatally shot inside their home Tuesday. Their son is in custody, facing possible murder charges.

Former Sunflower CEO Gilliland pleads not guilty

The former chief executive officer of Sunflower Farmers Market has pleaded not guilty in Arizona to charges he knowingly engaged in prostitution with a minor.

The Daily Camera reports Michael C. Gilliland entered his plea Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court.

The 52-year-old, who has homes in Colorado and Arizona, was arrested Feb. 10. An indictment alleges he solicited sex online from an undercover Phoenix police officer whom he believed was a 17-year-old girl.

Two days after his arrest, Gilliland resigned from the chief executive and chairman posts of Sunflower. He previously started Boulder-based Wild Oats Markets Inc., which was later acquired by Whole Foods Market Inc.

Lawmakers Want To Limit Use Of E-Smokes

Colorado lawmakers are considering limits on electronic cigarettes. They have voiced concerns over the nicotine "vaping" available in the battery-operated inhalers. The House already approved a bill this month to enact an age limit, and the bill would re-define tobacco products to make selling e-cigarettes to minors illegals.
