Vacant Seat on Wiggins Board of Trustees

A vacant seat on the Wiggins board of trustees remains vacant... because no one eligible for the board sent in a letter of application. The seat had been filled by Jim Musgrave... The Fort Morgan Times says Wiggins town clerk Jessica Warden-Leon says the regular election would come sooner than the time it would take to set up a special election... so Musgrave's seat will be fill in that regular election... the election is set for April 1.

Officer Involved Shooting

An officer involved shooting at the Tank & Tummy on Main St., in Lamar, have police on a manhunt. Authorities say an officer from the Lamar Police Department encountered a vehicle on South Main Street, Wednesday night (January 8), and upon an attempted arrest the driver assaulted the officer. Shots were fired by the officer, but no one was injured due to gun fire. The officer was treated and released for his injuries, but sources confirmed he is not in serious condition. The suspect fled the scene and a manhunt was conducted in Lamar, including several blocks in the area of the Lamar High School. The name of the officer involved and the name of the suspect had not been released. The investigation is ongoing

Man Faces Charges in Fatal Accident

A fatal accident claimed the life of a Brush woman, and one man faces accusations of negligence. 51 year old Robert McManus, of Brighton was charged with careless driving in the death of 43 year old Rene Henry, of Brush who was killed when, McManus' semi rear-ended Henry's truck Friday, on northbound Morgan County Road 24 at MCR U.5. According to the Colorado State Police both vehicles flipped over, and Henry was partially ejected from her truck and was pronounced dead on the scene. Funeral arrangements are pending.

City of Fort Morgan Tree Trimming

The City of Fort Morgan's Light and Power Department will be trimming trees near power lines until the middle of February. The department does trims trees in public rights-of-way near all main high-voltage lines, which bring power to the poles near homes or businesses.   To comply with the National Electric Safety Code, public utilities must trim or remove trees growing near power lines that threaten to disrupt service. Residents are warned not to attempt to trim trees near power lines themselves. For an inspection of tree limbs in and around power lines by your home or business, 542-3912.
