Longmont Charitable Thrift Store Robbed -- AP

Police in Longmont are looking for a burglar who stole hundreds of dollars from a charitable thrift store.
The safe is missing from Hope’s Storehouse in Longmont along with $800 that was inside. Hope’s CEO says the money was going to help less fortunate families in Longmont and Africa.
The store gives proceeds to Help International, which ships food, clothes and medical supplies abroad.
Employees say they’re heartbroken because the burglar stole from the poorest of the poor.
“It’s money that people have given to others and to have it stolen is really sad,” Jean Kaye with Hope’s Storehouse said.
Police say they have several persons of interest and all are past employees of the store.
The store plans on buying a security system and perhaps surveillance cameras — money they’d rather spend on helping others.

Sterling Trash Pick Up Schedule Change

Its a holiday, even today in Sterling, so there's no trash pick up today or tomorrow. Friday and Saturday Trash will be picked up on Monday, December 27 with regular Monday pick ups. and the rest of the week will be normal pick ups.

Brush Holiday Fun Lasat Weekend

There were about 36 bidders for the 2010 Shop Brush 1st auction and they turned in a total of 72 thousand dollars worth of receipts from their holiday purchases with businesses in Brush. They then traded those for holiday cash to buy items at the auction last Saturday. So what could they buy with holiday bucks? How about bicycles, 200 dollars off a set of four tires or a bicycle rack for your vehicle. The party went on with lots of fun and cookies, and the winners of the coloring contest.

Teachers and Students Thinking About Teacher Killed This Week

They may not be in school on Christmas Eve, but students and teachers at Green Acres Elementary are remembering third grade teacher Steven Lebsock. He was killed on Wednesday in a crash in Weld County. His wife and another passenger in their car were injured. Officials say it happened when 61 year old Barbara Northcutt of Brush was heading west when she changed lanes and sheriff's officials said her car hit a Suburban, causing it to spin and hit a cement barricade, rolled and landed on its roof. Lebsock was a passenger in the suburban and deputies said he was not wearing a seatbelt. Northcutt and her passenger were not hurt, but she was cited for careless driving resulting in death.

Fort Carson Soldiers' Expected Arrival Home Delayed

Officials say 70 Fort Carson soldiers who were expected to arrive home Thursday night have been delayed in Germany. The 3rd BCT, 4th ID soldiers were supposed to be at the Mountain Post late Thursday night but it is unknown when they will arrive home now. Airports in Germany are reporting delays due to the weather but it has not been revealed whether weather is why the Fort Carson soldiers have been held up. After they arrive home, the soldiers will be charged with planning a redeployment for the whole brigade to Iraq in the spring.

T-S-A issues Container Warning To Airlines

Holiday travelers passing through Denver International Airport today need to be alerted to a warning federal authorities are giving the nation's airlines. The Transportation Security Administration warns terrorists may use insulated containers like Thermos bottles to smuggle explosives aboard planes. The T-S-A hasn't confirmed what prompted this specific warning. But travelers may encounter extra safety measures when they go through airport security this weekend.
