Faculty members at the University of Colorado are circulating petitions trying to get support for legislation that would allow the university to set its own weapons policy.
The University of Colorado Board of Regents approved a revised gun policy allowing people with permits to bring guns almost anywhere on the Boulder campus.
In March, the Colorado Supreme Court upheld an appeals court ruling that said CU can't ban permit holders from bringing guns to campus. Guns are, however, still banned at ticketed events, including football games at Folsom Field and concerts in Macky Auditorium.

Medical marijuana cards for people with post-traumatic stress disorder appear unlikely in Colorado, and some veterans are planning to protest the snub from state health officials. A group of veterans rallied today in Colorado Springs. They say that because PTSD won't qualify for marijuana cards, the state should adopt legalization for all on the November ballot. This is the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's second denial of a petition to add PTSD to the list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana.

By this time tomorrow, Logan County may once again have a reigning rodeo queen. Tessa Welch was the only candidate vying for the Miss Rodeo Logan County crown, but was unable to compete in the horsemanship events during the Logan County Fair because of a leg injury. She has been cleared by her doctors and will finish up the competition this evening at the Logan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Center arena.

As part of its annual Utility Week celebration, the City of Fort Morgan is set to host a free barbecue and open house for utility customers next Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It takes place at the Electric Department building at 710 E. Railroad Ave. The event will also feature exhibits on city utility services, chances to win utility gift certificates and other useful information. City utility employees help set up the event, cook and serve the food and staff informational displays. About 600 people attended last year's free barbecue and open house.
