The Public Utilities Commission held a public hearing in at The Ft. Morgan City Council Chambers this afternoon. The topic was the proposed deregulation of phone services in the state. This was one of three public hearing being held in the state. Local residents expressed concern about the possibility of higher phone costs for those living in rural communities.

The Logan County Commissioners approved a Lodging Tax Board project for advertising on Colorado.com and in the 2013 Colorado Official State Vacation Guide at their meeting Tuesday. The cost will be just over 66-hundred dollars. . Circulation for the magazine is 550,000 with 40,000 copies sent out through director response, people asking for copies online or by mail, and 150,000 copies are sent to state welcome centers and major visitor centers, including Logan County's. The website has 6.3 million unique visitors annually . The click through rate is about "point-6 percent".

The Sterling City Council and Planning Commission got a look at the first results of the city's master plan update last night. during a work session. The checked charts and dates, and offered suggestions to the representative from McCool Development Solutions. There were no suprises in the informtion presented last night. Council and commission members agreed that the city and McCool are heading in the right direction.

Progressive Group Opposes Changes to CO PUC Fund

The Colorado Public Utilities Commission will hold a public hearing this afternoon in Fort Morgan. The P-U-C is gathering input on the High Cost Fund the commission uses to reduce the cost of telephone service in rural areas. Cathy Shull is the executive director of Progressive 15, a group that advocates for the 15 counties in Northeast Colorado. Shull says Progressive 15 does not support any of the proposed changes to the High Cost Fund...
