Authorities in Fort Collins are trying to figure out what caused an explosion inside an apartment blew a refrigerator apart and destroyed the unit's kitchen. The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad was called in several hours after the explosion Monday night. Police say no explosives were found by the bomb squad, but declined to speculate on what caused the explosion that neighbors felt more than 100 feet away and inside their own apartments. A published report says firefighters found no one in the apartment and no evidence of a fire.

Crews Rushing to Fix Flood Damaged Roads
Contractors and Colorado Department of Transportation crews are rushing to shore up sections of road damaged by the September floods to let people into their homes before winter sets in. Colorado's congressional delegation was told Monday that roads damaged and closed by the flooding will be open by Dec. 1. A Transportation Department spokesperson says portions of some highways are being filled in with gravel.
Colorado Cantaloupe Farmers Plead Guilty in Listeria Case
The two Colorado farmers whose cantaloupes were tied to a 2011 listeria outbreak that killed 33 people have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges. Eric and Ryan Jensen entered the pleas today in federal court in Denver to six counts of introducing adulterated food into interstate commerce. A sentencing hearing's scheduled for Jan. 28. Officials say people in 28 states ate the contaminated fruit and 147 were hospitalized. The Jensens' attorneys says the brothers were shocked and saddened by the deaths, but the guilty pleas don't imply any intentional wrongdoing or knowledge that the cantaloupes were contaminated. They're suing the safety auditor who gave their farm a superior rating just before the outbreak.
