Country music lovers get ready to rock and roll. Fans attending the Logan County Fair Night Show on Aug. 10 can expect to be entertained by Gloriana. The singing trio, describes their music as very rhythmic, with an influence of the 70s and earlier. While their youthful look may imply a similar following, members say they have fans from all age groups. Tickets for the Night Show with Gloriana and Hunter Hayes can be purchased at the Logan County Commissioners’ office at the courthouse, or online at lcfair.org.

With just six months in office, Logan County Commissioner Rocky Samber is tackling the tough issues. Seceding from the state, the county's ban on marijuana, and the county's meth problem are some of the topics he addressed at the Logan County Republicans' monthly luncheon, Thursday at Plainsman Grill. The Logan County Commissioners attended a meeting in Akron on Monday to further discuss the idea of seceding and the impact it would have on the local economy. They plan to hold another meeting soon to continue the discussion. Samber also talked about the ban on marijuana in unincorporated Logan County that commissioners approved last month, as well as the growing meth problem. Samber says it's been a good first half a year, and he's listening to people's concerns about a lot of the things he's working to solve, including new gun control regulations, and civil unions.

Attorney's for a Sterling man sentenced to 10 years for stealing, say he's a good man with a bad drug habit. 49 year old John Contreras, pleaded guilty, Thursday, to theft and robbery charges, for stealing from a burned down house just before Christmas, and two other cases. Contreras apologized to his wife in court, because of the property crimes and his criminal record. Contreras had scheduled a preliminary hearing in March to argue his charges, but was arrested twice for failing to comply with a restraining order, before last weeks hearing.

The Wiggins 11th Annual 4th of July Blow-out will start at 8 a.m. that day. That is when the Fifth Annual 5K Freedom Run begins at the Wiggins Event Center -- but a lot is left to come. The Wiggins Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the fire hall. A two-on-two basketball tournament will be held starting at 10 a.m. The Blow-Out Parade starts down the road at 2 p.m., with Verna Segelke as the grand marshal, and the Blow-Out Festival opens up at 2:30 p.m. to run to 8 p.m. at the Delbert Teets Ball Field park. And today (tue) is the last day to register for the Third Annual Blue Lightning BBQ Bash. Those want to enter must register at the Wiggins Telephone Association building. The big Party in the Park starts at 6 p.m. with the band Unleashed, and will continue until 11 p.m. with a break for the fireworks. The fireworks are held at the Wiggins High School football field.

Detailed rules for how recreational pot in Colorado should be grown and sold starting next year were released Monday.
The state department that will regulate marijuana released more than 60 pages of rules for how marijuana sales will be licensed and regulated. The Colorado Legislature set general rules earlier this year, leaving the specifics to the Department of Revenue. Pot has been legal since last year in Colorado, but retail sales don't begin until January. The voter-approved marijuana legalization measure adopted last year required the department to release rules by July 1, requiring labels to include potency, expiration dates, and a disclaimer that pot isn't legal outside Colorado and hasn't been safety-tested. Recreational pot will also come with the disclaimer that "there may be health risks associated with the consumption of this product." The rules released Monday don't apply to medical pot shops.

Alcohol may have played a role in an injury boating accident at Horsetooth Reservoir, Sunday. Sheriff's officials say a Blue River man was cut by a propeller, when a boat was bringing him back to shoreline and he jumped out. Sheriff's officials say the man suffered severe cuts on the right side of his body when the boat backed over him. The unidentified victim had to have emergency surgery. He was listed in critical condition Monday. A Fort Collins man was driving the boat. No charges were filed as of late Monday.
