KSIR-Reverse 911 System Failed to Notify homeowners in Lower North Fork Fire Zone - BOTH
Jefferson County Fire officials acknowledged today that about 12 percent of the homeowners within the Lower North Fork Fire zone did not receive an automated emergency call. A spokesperson said they believe a software issue caused the partial failure of the reverse 9-1-1 system. The sheriffs office is sending emergency vehicles into the area as a back up plan to warn people to get out immediately. Neighbors of Sam and Linda Lucas...the couple confirmed dead as a result of the fire...said they did not receive a warning call, despite calling dispatch for several hours about the smoke creeping into their neighborhood.
