Local officials say, if you receive a call from someone saying they are from Life Care Ambulance or Life Care Medical, and they are asking for credit card information to sign you up for an ambulance membership, the call may be a scam. In a news release, Life Care Ambulance officials said Friday they have not received details of the promotion other than that the caller is requesting credit card information. Sterling Police are investigating, and anyone who receives one of these calls or knows anything about them is asked to call police at 522-3512.

Detour to Lengthen Drive to Estes Park
If you plan to head to Estes Park in the next few weeks, prepare for a detour. U.S. 34 will close just east of Estes Park on Wednesday and remain closed through a week from Sunday. The closure is so CDOT can replace the first of two bridges on U.S. 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon. The bridges, built in 1937, are worn out. To get to Estes Park from the east during the closure, follow US 287, Colorado 66 and US 36 through Lyons. It'll add about 20 minutes to the trip.
Teacher's Crash Death Likely Caused by Texting, Says CSP
The Colorado State Patrol says the death of a Brush teacher in a crash on I-76 last week was likely the result of texting while driving. On the day that a new insurance industry study reported that state laws banning the use of handheld devices to make calls or send text messages while driving have not resulted in fewer vehicle crashes, troopers say Megan Schneider of Fort Morgan, sent a text message on her cell phone right before she lost control of her pickup and crashed. Investigators say the time between her last text and the first 9-1-1 call about the crash was only 48 seconds.
