High Park Fire Grows to 50,000 Acres

The High Park fire in Larimer County has grown to 50,000 acres. Public information officer Reid Armstrong says they're using all available resources to battle the blaze...






TAG: So far, the fire has destroyed more than 30 homes and damaged dozens more. The High Park fire has also claimed one life.

Three Sterling Volunteer Firefighters have signed on to help battle the High Park Inferno. Engine Boss Bill Eastman, Cody Ritter and Ty Honstein are working 16 hour shifts trying to save structures. So far they've assisting in saving 6 buildings from the flames. The three may be on the front line of the fire for as much as two weeks. They also took with them one of Sterling's Wild Land Trucks. The Forest Service is paying The Sterling Fire Department about 8-hundred dollars a day to use it.

A magician and some hands on science experiments are on tap for particiapants in Ft. Morgan's Summer Reading Program over the next week.
Saturday at 2:30, "The Amazing Arthur" brings his magic show to the library. Its billed as entertaining for the entire family, not just kids. Then, next Thursday, Ft. Morgan High School Students are bringing their gear to the library for some science experiments beginning at 1:30. Both events are part of the "Dream Bid - READ" summer program. They are free and open to the public.
