The Fort Morgan Senior Center will host an open house February 1st. City Clerk John Brennan says they have made some upgrades to the center and next month, the public is invited to come out and see the work...

RPD in Morgan County Again This Year

It's Morgan County's turn again, to host Rural Philanthropy Days this summer. The partnership of the Anschutz Family Foundation and Community Resource Center created the RPD among the ten counties in the region. The partnership started in 1997. The counties involved are Morgan Logan, Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, Lincoln, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties.

Report: "Dancing" Producers Want Tebow

(Undated) -- If producers of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" get their way, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow will be dancing toward a Mirror Ball trophy on the show's next season. HollywoodLife.com says the prayerful QB is at the top of a wish list of celebrities producers would like to see on the show. "Dancing" pro Karina Smirnoff has already voiced her support of the idea, telling People.com at her birthday party over the weekend that having Tebow on the show would be a birthday wish come true.

Senator Bennet Says Online Anti-Piracy Bill Has "Valid Concerns"

(Undated) -- Utah U.S. Senator Michael Bennet says Coloradans have brought up "valid concerns" about the federal proposal to stop online piracy. The "Denver Post" reports the Senate's Protect Intellectual Property Act and the House's Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA may never get a vote. Bennet says there are "potential unintended consequences" in the bill as it's currently written. Bennet is trying to get the Senate vote postponed until there is more public input.

Woman Facing Charges For Allegedly Lying About Assault

(Larimer County, CO) -- A Fort Collins woman is facing charges for allegedly lying about being pulled over by a police impersonator and sexually assaulted. Police said 27-year-old Heather Speicher helped police earlier this month with a sketch of the alleged fake cop before investigators began to suspect her. She was being held in the Larimer County Jail yesterday afternoon.

Obama Headed To Denver Next Week

(Washington, DC) -- The White House is saying President Barack Obama will visit the Denver area January 26th. After his State of the Union address Tuesday to a joint session of Congress, Obama is scheduled to visit five states critical to his re-election. On his itinerary are Iowa, Arizona, Nevada and Michigan, as well as Colorado. This is the third time Obama has visited Colorado since September.

Kentucky man facing stalking charge in Colorado

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Police say a man traveled from Kentucky to Longmont to find his ex-girlfriend and her son at a women's shelter after offering $10,000 on Facebook for help finding them.

Police arrested Joshua Payne Saturday on suspicion of domestic violence, felony stalking and felony to commit stalking. Police also arrested 21-year-old Madison Greenfield on suspicion of conspiracy to commit stalking.

Jail records show Payne posted $40,000 bail and was released Wednesday.

The Longmont Daily Times-Call reports that a witness told police that Greenfield had offered to deliver Payne's son to him in exchange for the money.

Police say Payne's girlfriend had moved to Longmont with the boy and that Greenfield befriended the ex-girlfriend at the shelter and transported the woman's son to and from school.

Erie mom pleads guilty to locking son in room

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — An Erie mother has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from allegations that she kept her 14-year-old son locked in his room for most of three years.

Amanda Joliff pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor child abuse. The charges carry a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a year in jail. Sentencing is scheduled for March 13.

Authorities charged Joliff after a neighbor found her son under the porch of Joliff's trailer Sept. 27. An arrest warrant affidavit says the boy and his sister had been left in the care of a man who lived in a car outside Joliff's trailer while she and her boyfriend, Richard Smith, visited New York.

Smith has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child abuse.

2 skiers die in Pitkin County

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Two skiers have died in separate incidents in Pitkin County.

Aspen Skiing Company in a statement says a 30-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon at Aspen Highlands when he crashed into a tree while snowboard in the Canopy Cruiser area of the resort. The man had been wearing a helmet and died despite efforts by ski patrollers to revive him.

Nearby at Snowmass, a 43-year-old man died after being buried by an avalanche outside the boundaries of Snowmass. Other skiers found the man and dug him out. Ski patrollers spent more than an hour trying to revive the man before rescuers pronounced him dead at the scene.

Both incidents were reported within 35 minutes of each other.
