Sterling Hosts State Level Town Hall Meeting This Week
Sterling is where one of several town hall meetings that the Governor’s Small Business Advisory Council being held throughout the state. Information from the meetings will be shared with the Governor’s Office.
The Sterling “Solution Session” will be held at Northeastern Junior College (NJC), Hays Student Center Room 230, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., on Thurs., Aug. 26.
The town hall meeting is part of a series of meetings hosted by the Colorado Small Business Development Network.
The purpose of the town hall meeting is to brainstorm on solutions of barriers to success for small businesses owners.

Man Considered Armed and Dangerous Escapes
Colorado law enforcement officials are looking for an escapee from the Sterling Correctional Facility and residents were sent an emergency notification around 1 o'clock this morning. Facility officials say 48 year old Douglas Alward was where he was supposed to be at 9 p.m., but during a 10 p.m. roll call, he was not. Prison officials confirmed the escape around 11:30 last night. Alward is described as white with a shaved head, shaved head, weighing. He was in on attempted murder, assault, burglary and kidnapping. Department of Corrections officials say Alward should be considered armed and dangerous.
