Weeks in Court
Mark Weeks will be back in a Logan County Courtroom on January 5 of next year. Weeks is accused of killing his daughter Alexis in July. Attorneys for the defendant said they needed more time to collect and process evidence. The judge also remind both the defense and prosecution to have all their information up to date at that time. Weeks was charged with child abuse-knowing/reckless cause of death, and murder.
Toys for Tickets at Sterling Public Library
Bring your favorite toy to the Sterling Public Library, this is for the kids, by the way, from now through Saturday, November 13, show it to the librarian and you'll get a ticket to the Saturday movie on November 13. The movie starts at 2 p.m. Now this part's for the grown ups: if you want to donate a toy to project Christmas Truck, bring a toy to the library on the 13th. Again, for the kids, anybody who donates a toy will get their name put into a drawing for a DVD copy of Toy Story 3. The library's providing the popcorn, you provide your own drinks. The entrance to the library is now on the south side of the building across from the parking lot by the Fire Department.
Community Policing Meeting Coming Up on November 10
The Fort Morgan Police Department is planning a Community Meeting at the Morgan Community College on November 10th. The meeting is from 6:30 to 7:30 in the Bloedorn Lecture Hall. Chief Roger Doll said such things as crime trends, sex offender registration, department structure, police programs and anything else that residents want to talk about with respect to the department. He said its the second year the police department has hosted community meetings and wants you to attend.

So you go to the library's website, and under the EBDCO link, put your library card number in and Voila! you're in. You get information on repairing your car from the guys who write the Chilton Auto Repair manuals.
Inmate Found Dead Yesterday at SCF
The Sterling Correctional Facility is again in the spotlight, this time with the death of an inmate. Officials said that 51 Michael Anthony Carey was arrested on Wednesday and found dead in his cell yesterday. Carey was arrested in two sexual assault charges from the 1990s. The spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections, Katherine Sanguinetti said Carey's death was discovered around 1:30 yesterday afternoon, and now the coroner will determine how he died. After he was arrested and jailed, Sanguinetti said that prison officials asked Carey if he wanted to be removed from general population, but he declined. She said even so, his death is being investigated as a suicide.
