A Logan County cattle owner has been arrested after 79 cattle carcasses were found on his property. Sheriff's deputies searched the property of Schuman Cattle, LLC on March 15 acting on information from the public. Authorities found the carcasses and several living cattle that they said were in poor condition. Gilbert Dean Schuman is due in court March 29th, charged with 16 counts of animal cruelty related to 16 live cattle authorities found and confiscated. A Logan County Sheriff's Office statement said the living cattle "were taken to the Sterling Livestock Commission Company because their immediate welfare was in question." Authorities say some of the carcasses were found in a livestock pond and others were hidden under mounds of hay. They were working to find out the causes of death of the 79 animals. Schuman is being held on a $5,000 bond.
