The Sterling school district's Care and Recovery Team will soon host a community and parent meeting to increase visibility of the services they offer. The meeting is called “Wired for Safety” and is set for Monday, February 22, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at SHS. This event will include a presentation from four different community agencies addressing issues of electronic communication including things like social networking, Internet safety, cyberbullying, sexting, and legal issues relating to electronic communications.

Markey Bill to End Anti-Trust Protections for Insurors
Congresswoman Betsy Markey will introduce legislation this week to repeal the special anti-trust exemption for health insurance companies and medical malpractice insurance companies. The measure would end special treatment for the insurance industry that allows them to fix prices, collude with each other, and set their own markets without fear of being investigated. Markey and co-sponsor Tom Perriello will formally unveil the bill at a press conference tomorrow.
Public Help Sought on Car Break-Ins
Fort Morgan police are asking for public help in their investigation of two recent automobile break-ins. According to a news release, the crime happened early the morning of January 22nd in the southwest part town. The driver's-side window of a vehicle on Cheyenne Street was broken in and property worth over 3-thousand dollars was removed. Police say an unlocked vehicle on Ute street was opened and several hundred dollars worth of property was stolen. Because the thefts are so close together, police are investigating them as being possibly connected.
