For the first time in three years, Yuma residents could see their water rates go up. The Yuma City Council approved the introduction of the measure to raise rates on a unanimous vote. Council has taken the economy to heart and raise the basic water rate by 50 cents. That means the basic charge will be 8.50 a month for five thousand gallons of water a month. Each one thousand gallons beyond that will be 1.25. Council will give its final approve to the rate increase on November 2. Before the vote, there'll be a public hearing on the rate increase.

Pawnee Lodge Needs Your Help
Do the Girl Scouts help you out with your taste bud issues every March, bringing the cookies you ordered? Are they not there for you, outside local stores selling the cookies even before March? Yes, and yes. So now, you can help the Girl Scouts. Pawnee Lodge in Sterling's Pioneer Park needs some work and to get the work done, the Girl Scouts need some money. That's why they're starting a fundraising campaign. The lodge needs -- well, you name it, it needs it. So come to Pawnee Lodge on October 9 to find out more. The Girl Scouts are trying to raise 38 thousand dollars so that the renovations can be done to historic standards.
