The Colorado County Treasurers and Public Trustees Annual Seminar is slated for October 15th - 19th in Sterling. Logan County Treasurer Patty Bartlett and her staff are hosting the event. The seminar is one of two annual meetings for the treasurers and public trustees. It provides and opportunity for them to get updated on legislative changes, ask questions of the association's attorney and visit with each other about problems or concerns in their offices. Barlett has speakers lined up to discuss title searches, legislative process, printing and mailing of government mail, banking services, exemptions and abatements, storage and backup of electronic data, sovereign citizens, identity theft and recording of various documents, as well as an inspirational talk by Marta Wells.

A father in Oswego is being hailed as a hero today. The man and his family were in their yard sunday evening when a car jumped the curb and made a bee-line toward his 11 year old son. The father pushed the boy out of the way so he was only side-swiped by the car, which then plowed into their home. The boy was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver suffered only minor injuries. The house did not sustain any major structural damage.

Weld County investigators say the shooting death of 11-year-old Andre Limas on Friday evening was accidental. The victims 18-year old brother, Jordan Limas, is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide. Police say young Andre saw the gun sitting on a table and picked it up. His brother told him it was not a toy and attempted to wrestle it away from him. The gun went off during the struggle striking young Andre in the chest. Investigators now say the 22-caliber hand gun, which Jordan Limas said belonged to him, was actually stolen.
