CBI Says H1N1 Vaccination Fraud is Being Emailed in State

The Colorado Fraud Investigators Unit of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has issued an alert warning e-mail recipients of a new phishing scam circulating through the Internet. The scam attempts to solicit personal information by suggesting that, in order to receive a vaccine for the H1N1 virus, they must register with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention via the Internet. Officials say if you respond, you'll leave yoruself open to identity theft. The information requested through this e-mail message would never be requested by the CDC. The email claims it is necessary to register with the CDC before you can receive an H1N1 shot -- this is not correct.
