Drive thru voting may soon be offered to Logan County residetns. Logan County Commissioners want to purchase a 24-hour drive-up ballot drop-off box to make it easier for people to cast their vote. If the county does decide to get a box, the state requires that it be under 24-hour surveillance and it would have to be permanently attached to the ground.

The newly elected mayor and Sterling city council members voted in favor of three resolutions dealing with rates for city services, at thier meeting Tuesday night, including rate hikes for trash collection, as well as wastewater, and water service. Officials noted that all three rate increases were included in the 2014 budget the city council approved earlier this month.

Thanksgiving morining turned deadly for an Adams County man. Authorities say they were forced to fatally shoot a man who aimed a shotgun at them early yesterday morning at Rookies Saloon and Restaurant in Strasburg. Witnesses spotted the unidentified suspect holding a shotgun and called 911. When deputies arrived, they chased the man on foot and shot him when he aimed his gun at them. No deputies were injured.

The bodies of tree people were found Wednesday in a house that burned. Colorado authorities are searching for a handyman who lived at the home in rural Rye until last week. Authorities say 59-year-old Harry Mapps is a person of interest in connection to the suspicious blaze. Authorities searched the home Thursday and say they haven't ruled out another victim inside the home. Arson investigators with the sheriff's department and Colorado Bureau of Investigations are trying to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
