Colorado prosecutors filed 24 counts of first degree murder and 116 counts of attempted first degree murder against accused theatre shooter James Holmes. He's also facing charges of crimes of violence and one count of possession of explosives. The number of charges reflects the various ways prosecutors can prove first degree murder...either premeditaion or extreme indifference to the value of human life. That also applies to the attempted first degree murder charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November.

Bison Days

The Overland Trail Museum is set to host "Bison Days" on Thursday, August 9th and Friday August 10th. The event is focused on children ages 5 to 11. During the action packed program, kids learn about our western heritage, including info about Buffalo Bill Cody and his famous Wild West Show, Annie Oakley, and of course Bison. Reservations are required.

Victims Advocate Appointed

A victims rights advocate has been appointed in connection with the theatre shooting case. The 18th Judicial District Attorneys office tapped Lisa Teesch-Maguire, the former legal director of the rocky mountain Victim Law Center for the post. Teesch-Maquire also has served as chief attorney general for American Samoa.
