UPDATE: DOC Releases Details of Alward Description; Still at Large

The Colorado Department of Corrections says they have not recaptured Douglas Alward, but have released new information.
DOC says Alward is 48 years old, has a scar on his left eye, is missing a left toe, and a tattoo on his upper right arm. That information along with that he's about six one, 152 pounds and has brown hair, though his head is shaved bald is in case anyone spots the fugitive. Officials say Alward has violent tendencies and should be considered dangerous.
Its believed he escaped from the Sterling Correctional Facility Sunday night between nine and ten p.m. He is believed to
be wearing athletic shoes and either green state issued pants or gray sweat pants and a green shirt.
He was convicted of Attempted murder, Assault, Burglary, Kidnapping, and Escape from other counties.

Alward Still on the Run

Douglas Alward has now bee on the lam for well more than 24 hours and searchers are still following leads to find him. DOC officials say their search is widespread, whereas earlier yesterday, they believed Alward was still in the Sterling area. DOC reminds residents to be vigilant as teams have been looking near Interstate 76 and Highway 61 for Alward. The DOC points out that Alward has no ties to the Sterling or surround area, saying his ties are near Colorado Springs. As we told you Alward was in the facility at 9 p.m. Sunday, but gone by 10 p.m. DOC confirmed the escapee at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and residents were alerted by 1 a.m. yesterday. Alward is abut 6'1", 152 pounds, shaved head and blue eyes. DOC says he could be wearing the standard dark green prison garb or gray sweats and a white shirt. Alward is considered armed and dangerous.
