Logan County authorities are looking suspects in a burglary reported at 3 Cs Hobby and Model on County Road 35. Shop owners say sometime between 7 p.m. June 6 and 1 p.m. June 7, somebody entered the business and stole several radio controlled vehicles, some nitro RC fuel and a large number of old coins. Death may be suicide
Stelring police are dealing with the death a 36 year old man as a suicide. No names have been released yet. Officers were called to Krull Park Sunday morning at about 10:50. When they arrived they found the body of a man hanging from a swing in the southwest area of the park. An autopsy is being conducted and investigators continue to follow up on the case. Anyone who saw anything or has additional information should call the Sterling police department at 522-3512.
SRM Lets 7 LPNs Go
Eight jobs are gone from Sterling Regional MedCenter. That means seven LPN positions from accuse care and a groundskeeper position are all gone after Banner announced that they wouldn't use LPNs in their hospitals after 2014, but officials at SRM said the decision to let seven go was a local one. But the outcome is similar to the corporate policy, and SRM said with its current patient population, more RNs are needed. They also said the economy played a roll in deciding to let the LPNs go, but the hospital assures there are no cuts in service.
Rivera Cops Alford Plea in Vehicular Homicde Case
The man accused of vehicular homicide for a crash that killed Helen "Taddy" Swinson in April, entered an Alford plea in Morgan County District Court last week. That means 19 year old that Edwin Rivera did not plead guilty per se, but admitted that there was enough evidence in the case to convict him. With the plea deal, two other charges were dismissed. Rivera could get as many as 12 years when he's sentenced in August. Rivera is free on a 50 thousand dollar bond.
Wiggins Water Woes
Wiggins residents are being told to cut back on the lawn watering. City officials said the water level in the tank was down to five feet at mid-week last week, and all that lawn watering would leave much water in Wiggins for much else. Town workers and police are watching for violators of the moratorium. Town officials say all this will change once the new water plant and pipeline construction are complete, and that's due to start this summer.
Markey near top in staff payments before leaving
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Former Democratic Rep. Betsy Markey is among the top in payments made to staff before leaving office.
The Coloradoan reports that Markey gave 19 staffers raises, lump-sum payments or both between Dec. 1 and Jan. 2, her last official day in office. According the House's quarterly statement of disbursements reviewed by the newspaper, Markey had more than $148,000 in payroll for the first quarter of this year that included two working days before she left office.
The average for 93 departing members of the House was $38,000.
None of the additional money went to the former congresswoman, who's now an assistant secretary in the Department of Homeland Security. She did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Coloradoan or The Associated Press.

Salazar noncommittal about staying on for 2nd term
DENVER (AP) — Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar is noncommittal about serving a second term for President Barack Obama.
The Denver Post Sunday reports Salazar in an interview says his recent decision to do an about face on a controversial wild-lands order recognizes that there are legal restrictions on the department. He says he's not looking that far into the future should Obama win reelection next year.
In 29 months as interior secretary, Salazar has faced the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history with the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill in the Gulf, as well as an uphill battle against policies from the Bush administration. The wild-lands order that would have restricted oil and gas development in vast stretches of wilderness-like areas in the West came under intense Republican opposition.

Colorado medical marijuana regulators have partnered up with local law enforcement agencies to help cities shut down illegal pot cultivations and prosecute those running them.
With Colorado the only state with medical marijuana regulations that allow companies to profit from selling the drug, strict business licensing requirements are making it easier for law enforcement to find, raid, and prosecute illegal marijuana cultivators. Before a 2010 law requiring special marijuana business license passed, dispensaries, cultivators, and infused product manufacturers operated without oversight.
Before the new laws, police investigations of illegal pot gardens fell apart when pot cultivators who were raided claimed they were growing it for patients. Police and state regulators say the new regulations now create a bright line for enforcement.

ancient legends to entertain us. Indiana Bones makes stories come to life with his unique
storytelling abilities. Indiana Bones has a special guest he brings with him that is sure to
be lots of fun.
Mike McCartney was a former PBS documentary producer/writer, TV personality,
professional actor and faculty member of Mississippi State University. Indy is now a full
time professional storyteller, telling stories to kids all over.

Sterling Public Library Holds Multicultural Art Challenge
Sterling Public Library is offering a Multicultural Art Challenge for kids age 10 through 15. The class will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 3:00 p.m. and last at least 1 hour.
This week we will be exploring an art technique found in Africa as we make tribal masks.

Passport Please Continues at Sterling Public Library
Sterling Public Library will offer the second program in our series Passport Please today at 2:00 p.m. for kids of all ages. This week we will visit Africa.

some fun facts about the country to talk about. As a part of the program participants will
be making Khamsa hands. In Africa the khamsa is a symbol of good luck and has been used for centuries. Be sure to join us for a fun afternoon as we travel to Africa.
Remember if you attend the program you will be given a passport that will be stamped.
Once the passport is stamped, and you check out books before 9:00 p.m. on the following
Tuesday, you will win a prize.
