We told you yesterday how Log Lane Village employees would see a 50 cent an hour raise next year, and now, there's more: The town's board of trustees says it will give employees a Christmas bonus of 100 dollars each. Board members said all the town's employees are very valued and deserve the bonuses now and the raises next year. And, as we told you yesterday, two board members abstained from voting on the bonuses since their wives work for Log Lane Village.

Colorado statewide snowpack well below average
DENVER (AP) — Colorado's snowpack level is lagging the historical average, despite a recent snowstorm.
On Tuesday, the statewide snowpack was 77 percent of the 30-year average for the date. Snowpack in several river basins is below average, although the Upper Rio Grande in southern Colorado is at 104 percent of average.
Melting snow from the mountains provides much of water in the state's waterways.

Plains snowstorm leaves 10-foot drifts in Colorado
DENVER (AP) — A snowstorm that swept across the Great Plains left drifts up to 10 feet high in Colorado's southeastern corner.
The storm also temporarily shut down Interstate 25 south of Pueblo but the highway reopened Tuesday afternoon after the storm system moved out of the state. Smaller highways on the southeastern plains remain closed.
The Colorado Army National Guard said it rescued two stranded motorists early Tuesday in eastern Las Animas County using a Sno-Cat.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid said there were several accidents overnight that included an injury accident involving a tractor-trailer that prompted the closure of I-25.
More snow is expected to move into Colorado late Wednesday but that storm is expected to impact northern Colorado.

Damage from sorority house fire could top $1M
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A fire official estimates a blaze in the attic of a sorority house near the University of Colorado caused about $1 million in damage.
Authorities are investigating what caused the fire late Monday at Kappa Alpha Theta. They say it appears to have been accidental.
The house mother was the only person home at the time of the fire. She was not injured.
The Daily Camera reports it's not clear whether the house can be repaired before 62 students who are scheduled to live there next semester return from winter break.
Boulder Chief Fire Marshal David Lowrey says there is significant water damage to the house, and part of the roof is damaged. He says the damage could top $1 million.

DENVER (AP) — Unemployment in Colorado is edging lower.
The state labor department said Tuesday that Colorado's unemployment rate was 8 percent during November, one-tenth of a percentage point lower than in October.
The national unemployment rate also declined a bit to 8.6 percent.
However, a survey of Colorado employers over the same period found that the number of jobs in the state decreased by 4,500 in government and the private sector.
The unemployment rate is based on a survey of households and includes people who are employed by others as well as those who are self-employed. The department's chief economist, Alexandra Hall, said that could account for part of the difference in figures.
Colorado lost 151,000 jobs between April 2008 and January 2010 before it slowly started adding jobs again.
