Experienced Skydiver Dies After Hard Landing at Fort Morgan Airport

News Release from Morgan County Sheriff's Office:

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office and Morgan County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of an experienced skydiver at the Fort Morgan Airport Saturday afternoon.

Morgan County Communications Center received a 911 call of an injured skydiver at 3:44pm. Responding deputies, Morgan County Ambulance Service medics and Fort Morgan firefighters found 27 year old Brady Kane of Erie, gravely injured. Despite resuscitation efforts by responders and fellow skydivers, Kane was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kane was a number of other skydivers jumping with a club at the airport. Witnesses and friends of Kane stated he apparently attempted a high speed “swooping” landing but apparently came in too low and hit the ground very hard. There was no indication of equipment being a factor in the landing, and it was his second jump of the day.

Fellow skydivers told investigators Kane was a very experienced skydiver with instructor ratings, with well over 5000 dives.

Fatal Skydiving Accident at Fort Morgan Airport

News Release from the Morgan County Coroner's Office:

Brady Kane, 27, of Erie, Colorado, died of injuries suffered in a skydiving accident at the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport on Saturday, May 07, 2011. The incident was reported to the Morgan County Law Enforcement Communications Center at 1544 [3:44pm]. Death was pronounced at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner Office.

Responding to this event was the Morgan County Sheriff Department, Fort Morgan Fire Department, Morgan County Ambulance Service, and the Morgan County Coroner Office. Investigation is continuing by the Morgan County Coroner Office and the Morgan County Sheriff Department.
