The USDA Colorado Farm Service Agency issued a reminder yesterday that deadlines are approaching for producers to apply for several financial assistance programs. June 1st is the cut of for The Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payment...or "SURE" program. Also the DCP, or Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program, and the Average Crop Revenue Election Program, also known as The ACRE Program. A Farm Service Agency spokesperson said it is crucial for producers to meet the deadline in order to receive disaster and income support.

Today is the first day of Colorado's summer long effort to stamp out drunken driving. The Campaign is called "100-days of Heat". The goal, according to the Colorado State Patrol, is to reverse a deadly trend of alcohol and drug related automobile accident.. Last year, there were 67 alcohol-related fatal crashes between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
