Fort Morgan City Council Votes Tonight on Severance Agreement with Merrill

Back on January 18th, Fort Morgan City Manager Pat Merrill submitted his resignation. The city will vote tonight on whether to approve a severance agreement with Merrill. John Brennan, City Clerk and Public Information Officer for the city of Fort Morgan says they only wish him the best.






According to Brennan, the next step now is for the council to decide what process to take to begin the search for a new city manager.

Vicente to Appeal Murder 1 Conviction

Twenty-eight year old Miguel Vicente will appeal his first degree murder conviction, as he begins the rest of his life in prison/ A jury found him guilty of killing Ricardo Moran of Fort Morgan last March when Vicente found that his wife and Moran were having a relationship. Vicente will have a public defender handle his appeal.

man Arrested in Shooting

Morgan County Sheriff's officials have made and arrest in that shooting Saturday night at a house in the 11000 block of Rd 20, south of Fort Morgan. Sheriff's deputies arrested Kenneth Breneman Jr. without incident Monday night in Fort Morgan on a Morgan County District Court warrant. He was charged with first degree assault, Prohibited Use of a Weapon, and Child Abuse. He is being held without bond in the Morgan County Jail pending court advisement.

Man Enters School With Knife



A Brighton high school was on lockdown yesterday as police searched for a man reportedly carrying a knife. Cops placed Prairie View High on lockdown for less than an hour until 20-year-old Andrew Cordova was found with a knife hidden in his pants. The suspect scuffled with authorities before being arrested and taken into custody. Police say Cordova went to the school to confront a student who had allegedly harassed his sister.

Weld Sheriff: Father Shot Son, Himself



Few details have emerged in Weld County where a father shot his son before turning the weapon on himself last night. A Weld County Sheriff's official said the two were alive last night although but their conditions were unknown. Authorities said the father and son were intoxicated when the incident happened at their home in Fort Lupton around 6 p.m. Their identities have not been released.

Medical Marijuana Soda On Its Way To Springs



A new business will be manufacturing medical marijuana consumers can drink in the Springs. Canna Cola intends to make many kinds of medical marijuana soda and have them on the shelves of Colorado dispensaries by next month. Clay Butler, a partner in Canna Cola, told KRDO-TV the company has not officially started yet but plans are underway. Many other medical marijuana sodas are already being sold but with Canna Cola each bottle is patterned after a real soda so it has flavors like Orange Kush, Doc Weed and Grape Ape.

New Manufacturing Company Opening In Pueblo


A Canadian company will be coming to Pueblo, bringing new jobs there. The Pueblo Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO) said Monday that FRE Composites will be opening a new manufacturing center here. Officials say the company plans to hire 30 people when it first opens. The city of Pueblo is offering financial help from the half-cent sales and use tax fund to aid the company with getting a building through a lease purchase and to buy equipment.
