Car-Bus Crash in Greeley Kills Teen-Aged Girl in Car

Police say a 15-year-old girl was killed and two other people were hurt as the result of a car-school bus crash on the north edge of Greeley today. According to Greeley police, the girl who died was a passenger in the backseat of the car. Investigating officers say the bus was going about 30 miles per hour when the car pulled into its path. The bus was unable to stop and crashed into the driver's side of the car. The impact pushed the car off of the road. None of the people aboard the bus, which included 12 to 14 kids, were injured. The name of the girl has not been released, but police say the driver, who is 17, was a sibling. The third person in the car is 14-years old. The bus was carrying students for the Eaton school district.

One man was injured but no students were hurt when his car collided with an Eaton school bus on the north edge of Greeley.
Greeley Police Sgt. Joe Tymkowych said the bus, which was picking up children in northwest Greeley to take them to Eaton schools, was traveling eastbound on F Street at about 35 mph when the car left the Stoneybrook Mobile Home Park northbound - pulling directly in front of the bus.
No children on the bus were hurt although one did have a sprained wrist. Police say the driver of the car appears to be at fault.

NJC To Offer Tax Help

To be eligible for NJC’s service you must have a household income of less than $48,000. The service starts this Thursday and runs through April 8th. It happens on Thursday evenings from 5 to 8pm. They'll also have a day long kickoff event this Saturday from 9 to 3. All tax preparation services will take place in Phillips-Whyman Hall room 12 on a walk-in basis. Bring your ID along with your tax info.

Former Hudson Firefighter Admits Placing Fake 9-1-1 Calls

A former Weld County volunteer firefighter accused of making 48 anonymous suicidal calls to emergency crews has pleaded guilty. Forty-four-year-old Caryn Sodaro told authorities when she was arrested in December that she was depressed and suicidal. Authorities say Sodaro's fake phone calls made ambulances and police officers hurry to several towns in south Weld County, including Fort Lupton, Hudson, and Firestone. Sodaro was a volunteer firefighter in Hudson. She's scheduled to be sentenced next month.
