Last week's winter storm lead to icy roads, which lead to several crashes in the Sterling area. Colorado State Patrol said there have been about two dozen crashes and even more slide offs. Officials said with several passengers in the same crash calling for help, several rescue units could be tied up on the same incident. They stress that drivers need to be prepared to drive in wintry conditions as winter storms will happen this time of year. Truck Driver Accused Of Crime Spree Charged -- AP
A Phoenix truck driver accused of a carjacking and other crimes in northern Colorado has been charged with 32 counts, including attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.
The Weld County district attorney’s office says Scott Walker, 47, was also charged Monday with several counts of burglary, attempted aggravated robbery and menacing.
He is being held on $2 million bond and is due in court Jan. 20.
Walker was arrested Dec. 28 at a Greeley-area home where authorities say he smashed through a gate with a stolen cable TV truck and burst into the house. Police say Walker abandoned his semitrailer in Greeley and stole the truck at gunpoint.
He is accused of firing at a sheriff’s deputy before surrendering.

Denver police are asking for help finding two shoplifters who assaulted a security guard at the Cherry Creek Mall.
Investigators released surveillance images from New Years Day. One suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 white man, about 150 pounds with a lip tattoo on his neck. The other suspect is a 5-foot-8 black man weighing 150 pounds.

Auto Shops See Business Spike After Storm -- AP
Although most of the snow and ice has melted from the winter storm at the end of last week, the effects of it are being felt by many local body shops.
Now that New Year’s weekend is over, cars involved in wrecks are starting to be towed in. Autoworks International says it usually sees a 30 percent increase in business after winter storms hit. That’s how much business is up right now.
Most of the cars coming in are those involved in more minor accidents, but the shop has received some totaled cars as well.
“A lot of curb hits, a lot of suspension damage; that type of stuff — people sliding in. Lot of airbags deployed, people jump curbs and the way airbags deploy, the way they are set up nowadays, they will deploy on an easy curb hit.” Jerry Cathcart with Autoworks International said.
The shop owners recommend carrying full coverage on a car rather than just liability because hit-and-runs are on the rise.

Officer Shot In Arm
Police in Northglenn won't divulge who shot one of their officers in the arm yesterday while he attempted to serve an arrest warrant to an accused child predator. Police say the unnamed officer attempted to serve a warrant to 40-year-old registered sex offender Matthew Anderson. He is accused of using the Internet to lure a 13-year-old girl into having sex with him. When the Northglenn officer tried to enter Mathews' home on Bowman Drive at 6:45 p.m. at least one bullet was fired from inside the residence. The officer's injury wasn't considered serious.
Peyton Woman Accused Of Bigamy Pleads Guilty To Forgery
A woman accused of marrying two Fort Carson soldiers pleaded guilty to forgery Monday, but bigamy charges against her were dropped. Authorities say 30-year-old Peyton resident Tammy Ann Patton entered the forgery plea because of her falsified marriage certificate. Officials say she also pled guilty to an animal cruelty, a misdemeanor charge. She will be sentenced February 28th.
