The Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of President Obama's Healthcare reform in a ruling released this morningt. The Decision paves the way for virtually all Colorado residents to get health insurance. The ruling affirms a number of provisions, including expansion of medicaid, health insurance exchanges, major cost and quality provisions, and insurance for those with pre-existing conditions.

The City of Sterling and The Sterling Boat Club have both cancelled their 4th of July fireworks displays. Sterling Fire Chief Kurt Vogel said the original plan was to wait a few days before making the call, but the arid conditions that make the danger of wildfires so great are not expected to abate anytime soon. The rapid spread of the Last Chance Fire demonstrated just how dangerous the conditions currently are.

Morgan County Sheriff Jim Crone has the authority to decide whether or not public fireworks displays can take place this year, but he's decided to let local fire chiefs make their own decisions. The fireworks displays at Jackson Lake and I-76 Speedway have been canceled or postponed. The dry conditions expose the area to the potential for wildfires caused by fireworks. The fire departments in Brush and Wiggins are taking a "wait and see" attitude prior to making a final decision.
