A meeting is set for Thursday between State and Weld County Officials and local farmers and residents to discuss ground water wells that were ordered shut down during the hieght of the historic drought in the early 2000's. Nearly 8-thousand wells were blocked from pumping because they were depleting water supplies down stream for senior water rights holders. Now, some area farmers and residents are concerned that the closed wells have led to higher ground water levels which have damaged structures, and diminished agricultural production. The meeting is at 10am Thursday at Fritzler's Corn Maze on Weld Coumty Road 33, South of LaSalle, just off US-85.

State officials say it was due to a clerical error, but apparently Colorado paid out nearly 128-million dollars in unemployment benefits last year. Now, the state wants the money back. People on unemployment who were overpaid can look for notices from the state demanding repayment.
