Colorado's blood supply is at a critical low and Bonfils Blood Center is putting out an urgent call for donations. Demand for blood in the state spiked recently and donations have tapered off. Doctors say there is a special need for donations from people with Type O negative blood because they are universal donors who are compatible with most patients. The Denver Post reports Bonfils had 32 units of Type O negative blood on hand on yesterday, compared with 100 to 200 units on a typical day.

Aarapahoe Students Getting Back Into School Building
Students are being allowed back in to Arapahoe High School for brief visits that are providing some comfort following last week's shooting. Juniors and seniors were allowed inside for two hours today to get things they had to leave behind after a gunman opened fire, wounding one student before killing himself. Underclassmen are scheduled to report tomorrow. Students were able to meet their teachers, walk the school's halls and gather in the cafeteria to talk and eat homemade cookies. Some said they were nervous to return. Classes will resume in January.
Hickenlooper 2014 Agenda
A year after saying "the time is right" for a gun-control debate, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is laying out a much more modest agenda for 2014. Hickenlooper says he doesn't want to see any of those laws repealed. But he told reporters he'd consider tweaks to some of them, without specifying what changes he'd agree to. The governor announced no major new initiatives. He says he hopes next session is marked by bipartisanship. That's an unlikely outcome as Hickenlooper seeks re-election and Republicans are within a single seat of controlling the state Senate.
