Prince of Peace Episcopal Church and Jubilee Ministries will be collecting canned goods during the Logan County Fair Parade Saturday, August 7th. The food will be collected as the church’s float passes by and will be donated to Cooperating Ministries of Logan County. The parade starts at 9 a.m. The parade starts at Fifth Avenue and West Main, one block east of its normal route because of work on Seventh.

Hearing on Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Tonight
Do you want to tell Fort Morgan City Council what you think of medical marijuana dispensaries? Tonight is your chance. The council will hold a public hearing on the issue at their regular meeting tonight. The meeting is in council chambers at city hall at 7 p.m. Everyone's welcome to voice their issues on the dispensaries, but the hearing is down the agenda a ways, so it may be some time before council gets to the issue. City attorney Jeffrey Wells said when council votes on the issue, they can vote to ban the dispensaries, regulate them locally or do nothing, allowing them to fall under state jurisdiction. Council could vote on the issue after tonight's hearing.
"Style in Review" Brings Out Best in 4-H Creations
"Style in Review" was the order of the even Friday as the annual 4-H Fashion Revue last week. The event was at Sterling High School's auditorium and featured all levels of 4-Hers. It was the kickoff of the judging events at the Logan County Fair. The event was emceed by Heather Delgado-Diaz and was directed by Sarah Keil and Linda Dettmer. The three divisions that brought out reserve champions and champions were Junior, Intermediate and Senior.
Ritter Appoints Taylor Judge
A Greeley lawyer is now a Weld County Judge. Governor Bill Ritter appointed Todd Leslie Taylor to the bench in the 19th Judicial District. Judge Gulbert Gutierrez's retirement is offical as of August 22nd, leaving the vacancy that Taylor will fill. He'll take on a provisional term until early 2013 and could run for his seat on the bench in an election in November 2012. Taylor has been a prosecutor, legal aid lawyer, and Gilcrest municipal judge.
Barlett Becomes 1st VP of the CO Publlic Trustees' Assoc
She's already the Logan County Treasurer/ Public Trustee and now Patty Bartlett is now the First Vice President of the Colorado Public Trustees' Association. She's looking to get re-elected to her post as Logan County Treasurer/ Public Trustee and why not? She's been that for more than 15 years. Bartlett's been in the Colorado Public Trustees' Association for several years in several capacities.
