The Morgan County Fair is still 3 weeks away, but some of the competitions for kids start this weekend. Shooting sports start tomorrow, with shotgun competition beginning at 8 a.m. at the Wildcat Trap Club near County Roads W and 17. On Sunday, skeet and five-stand shotgun competition starts at 8 a.m. at the Washington County Gun Range in Akron.

Local Police Report Seasonal Spike in Crime

Local authorities are reporting a seasonal rise in crime. Officer Roger Doll with the Fort Morgan Police Department says when the mercury rises, so does the local crime rate - it happens every year...

Boxing Team Meets Fans

A send off celebration for the US Olympic Boxing Team is scheduled for this evening outide the Olympic Training Center Visitors office in Colorado Springs. At 7;30, all 12 members of the team will be there to greet well-wishers prior to the departure for London. The first 500 guests will get team posters.

Early yesterday moring Sterling Fire Units responded to a call at County Roads 38 and 11. The caller told dispatchers that a fan had overheated and he thought it was under control, but wanted S-F-D to check it out. When the fire units arrived at the front gate of Mike-1 Airforce Base, they were not allowed access to the site.
