The Morgan Community College Student Nurse Organization has been busy recently assembling health kits to benefit kids in Haiti. More than 50 kits were assembled by students and staff and donated to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, a nonprofit international humanitarian aid organization. A health kit is a gallon-sized plastic bag in which are placed basic hygiene items such as a washcloth, hand towel, toothbrush, bar of soap, nail clippers, comb and $1 for the purchase of toothpaste.
Project Coordinator Joy Bryant said in a statement that nurses and nursing students have the desire to help the people of Haiti and this is a small but tangible way that will provide the most basic needs to a number of desperate people. SNO does a variety of educational, fund raising and charitable projects throughout the year.
